Vegan Coconut Chai Ice Cream with Palais des Thes Chai Imperial

This ice cream is vegan but the texture is creamy and smooth just like traditional ice cream. The amazing chai flavor comes from Palais des Thes Chai Imperial. If you love chai, you have to try this recipe. It’s just like having a frozen chai latte! Vegan Coconut Chai Ice Cream  Two 13.5oz cans Coconut Milk 1/2 cup sugar(or sweetener of your choice, honey agave etc.) 2 tbs cornstarch 3 tbs Palais des Thes Chai Imperial 1 vanilla bean Add coconut milk to a saucepan reserving about 3 tbs. This amount doesn’t have to be exact, you just need a little to mix in with the cornstarch. Split vanilla bean, scraping the seeds and adding to the pot along with the vanilla pod. Add sugar and chai tea. Next, add cornstarch to a small bowl and add reserved coconut milk. Whisk until smooth and set aside. Turn heat to medium high. Crab Tostada

  This recipe is nice and light making it perfect for summer. It’s super easy to make and only uses a few ingredients. A nice balance of sweet from the mango and a little heat from the jalapeño.  The freshest ingredients and best crab you can find will make this dish shine.

Bacon Cheddar Biscuits with Jalapeño Honey Butter

The addition of bacon makes anything better and biscuits are no exception. This recipe has just enough bacon so that it doesn’t over power the flavor of the biscuit. I like anything spicy so I decided to make a jalapeño butter but added a little honey to sweeten things up. This biscuit is great for breakfast, but also great for lunch or dinner with buttermilk fried chicken!

Cinnamon Sugar Buttermilk Donuts

Freshly made donuts are a real treat. These cake donuts take less time than yeast donuts because there is no rising time involved. If your not a fan of drowning them in cinnamon sugar try powdered sugar or a little sprinkling of vanilla sugar. Whenever I use a vanilla bean, I throw the pod in a glass jar with some sugar, shake it up and the vanilla bean will begin to flavor the sugar. These donuts are best enjoyed the day you make them, but will also be great the next morning with a cup a coffee.

5th Annual Philly Chili Bowl

This Sunday, I helped to judge the 5th Annual Philly Chili Bowl along with Lily Fischer Pastry Chef/Founder of A Cupcake Wonderland, and Cake Life Bake Shop and Drew Lazor, Food & Drink writer. Our task, to judge 24 different chili’s and crown the winner. This was my first time judging a food competition so I was super excited. Tons of chili and beer, not bad at all! The event was hosted by BigBite Philly and sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, Di Bruno Brothers and Herr’s.

Bacon and Potato Pizza with Caramelized Onions and Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce

Pizza has to be one of my favorite things to make. I don’t post as many pizzas as I make but I realized I haven’t done a pizza post in a while. Bacon is great on anything and the potato adds a nice flavor different than your typical pizza and caramelized onions lends a little sweetness. Roasting the garlic instead of using raw mellows out the flavor but still adds a garlicky kick. Enjoy!

Panko and Parmesan Crusted Salmon

This is one of my favorite recipes. I probably make this once a week because it’s so easy and taste delicious. This recipe is perfect to make during the week for a quick dinner and impressive enough to make for something special. This would be great to make for upcoming Valentine’s Day if your pressed for time or not the best cook. It is no way you can mess this dish up, so give it a try!
